Since I'm not ready to spend a few thousand dollars on an in ground sprinkler system, I've been using a few of these and a series of hoses as an alternative.Just to break it down:
PROS:
- Sturdy, mostly/all metal construction (minus the plastic endcap)
- Easily adjustable for spray radius and pattern (once you get the hang of it)
- Relatively cheap price
CONS:
- Out of the package, requires a good spray down of WD-40 to get the head to "recycle" properly.Make a habit of hitting it once with WD-40 each year and you'll be good to go.
I haven't tried linking them, however.It seems that the distribution of pressure with more than one in a series would cause it to be a bit less effective (since water pressure drives the pulsating mechanism).Not perfect, but a good value at this price compared to plastic ones I also own.
