My backwash hose (which was the typical "rubbery kind") finally exploded and I needed to replace it.I opted on spending a little more money and buying the Hydro Tools 50 Ft. transparent PVC backwash hose.Firstly, the picture is not correct. This is indeed transparent -- not solid like the picture shows.
The one really good thing about this particular backwash hose is that it is a 2" diameter. Most of them aren't.I had just replaced a backwash piece made of PVC that had a 2" diameter ... so I was happy about finding this hose at this measurement.
Ok, so I installed it about 3 weeks ago and it seems to be working just fine.Solid and what not.My question is:How is this PVC going to hold up over the long haul.It looks and feels stiffer than I expected and I wonder if it will succumb to cracking???That's my concern.
My 4-star review is based on this speculation, that the hose will not last an entire pool season and may develop a crack or crease or some other kind of unwanted leak that compromises it's integrity. If this does last for multiple seasons, I will come back and update my rating.
Until then, I am crossing my fingers hoping this hose lasts as long as the others have.I had a difficult time finding any other type of backwash hose in a 2" diameter, so I decided to try this one.
