Liberty Garden Products 840-1 Residential Grade 4-Wheel Garden Hose Reel Cart with 250-Foot-Hose Capacity Review

Good design but poorly made in China. 1) The first thing you'll notice is the stench of the "rubber" tires. This goes away after a couple of weeks. 2) The central component, the brass swivel/o-ring fitting at the leader hose/reel hub attach point, was too short. I had to disassemble it in order to get a wrench on the fitting to tighten it. Not too difficult if you have the correct retaining ring pliers. 3) The metal wasn't properly cleaned before powder coating, so large pieces flake off when you tighten the nuts and bolts during assembly. 4) There is no friction device on the reel, so the reel continues to spin after you pull on the hose, causing the hose to uncoil on the reel. 5) The hoops on the reel are full of welding slag, which makes an interesting tumbling sound when you turn the reel. 6) The leader hose is stiff and cheap.

After reading the reviews, I reluctantly ordered this power hose reel.Initially I experienced the same impossible task of trying to unwind the hose.

The problem was solved after charging the battery.I ran the reel empty of hose continuously for 30-40 minutes.This stretched and loosened the drive belt.

I then recharged the battery, and the hose reel now works perfectly.

I suggest not reeling the hose until you operate the reel for an extended time.

Under the conditions I have given above, this power hose reel is highly recommended.

Colorite Faucet Extender WA3002006 5/8-Inch x 6-Foot Garden Hose With Plastic Spike Review

This 6 foot extender hose is cheaply made and leaks when you attach it to other hoses. I tried attaching this hose to 3 different hoses/sprayers and every time it leaked. The threaded (male) end would not screw in all the way and remained loose, and thus leaky when the water was turned on. I had no such problems with any of my existing hoses and sprayers, so clearly I got a defective hose.

Beware: this hose is low-quality.

100 Foot Sidetracker Wall-Mount Hose Reel Review

This is a great product.Extremely compact, blends in well; easy to use anddurable.It worked perfectly in nearly daily use for almost 10 years without my having to replace a single part.The coupling between the stationary mount and the removable wheel finally broke and I'm very glad the product is still available--still for under $30!
Highly recommended but, as with all hose reels, you must remember to take itinside in below-freezing weather (the reel is clipped to the mount and detaches very easily).

Orbit 62018 Lawn & Garden Mechanical Hose Faucet Timer Review

I've used others and they always break. I live in a city with high line pressures (80-120psi). This timer appears to be more solidly built than any of the others.Also has a 6 year warranty.It's probably not worth the hassle of actually taking the company up on the warranty given the low cost of the item, but it does indicate that they believe in the durability of the product.I'll update the review as time progresses.

Orbit Lawn & Garden Brass Hose Quick Connect Set #58117 Review

I bought two of these. The description makes it sound exactly like the Quick Connect Set #58285, but that is because it is the wrong description. This set does not automatically stop water flow when disconnected. The other one does. It's ok because ultimately it is more useful for me to have it not stop water flow when disconnected so I can use the hose without an attachment. I informed Amazon of the error on the description, but they would not fix it because the Orbit website has the same error. I then called Orbit and they said they would fix the site, but it is still up there as of 5/6/2010.

In any case it is a good product. It is solid brass with the exception of rubber grips which I like because all brass can be difficult to use when it is wet and cold.

Worth every penny, why didn't we buy this sooner?!At our horse barn we have running water, but kept getting our feet wet trying to wash our hands. Our kids were constantly soaked.We mounted this sink to piece of plywood, then a 4x4 post, ran the drain tubing into a 10 foot piece of pvc to further remove the run off and voila!No more mud puddle or wet kids!The only complaint I might have is that it is small/narrow, and the hose nozzle we had stuck out 1/2 way into the bowl.We ended up taking that off, and when you need to wash your hands you turn the water on low, step back to the sink and wash, the step back over and turn the water off.Adults can use a hose with the nozzle but it's too much to get on for small children.To the manufacturer I would suggest making it wider left to right and adding a sunken indentation for a bottle of soap?We just leave ours in the bowl.

Ray Padula RP-FSHR Flat Spray Hose with Stationary Sprinkler Review

Ok, so this is a garden hose.Big deal, a hose is a hose, right?Well, in this case it's not.I've always thought that screwing nozzles on and off my garden hose was a real pain, and don't even get me started on trying to get the hose on and off my pressure washer.I noticed that this hose was different.There are no threads on the ends.If you're familiar with air hose fittings, this is the same idea in plastic. If you buy this, you have to realize that you are switching your connection system from threads to a Quick Klick system.It does not screw onto your hose bib.

Pros:
1.Really, really light weight.I was amazed, you could carry this thing around with one finger.
2.Very small and compact, super easy to store.
3.Can roll out a little bit at a time and the hose works fine
4.The click fittings make hooking attachments up to the hose quick and easy.

Cons:
1.YOU MUST BUY THE "QUICK KLICK" ADAPTERS, otherwise you can't hook the hose up to your hose bib.This is not really a con, unless you were thinking of just buying the hose and hooking it up.The real con is that at the time of this writing, Amazon does not sell the adapters.I had to get them from Meijers.com ($3.95).Buy multiple sets -- one for each of your attachments (wand, sprayer, pressure washer, etc.), I bought 3 sets and should have bought a couple more. The fittings screw into your existing threaded hoses, hose bibs or attachments.

2.It would have been nice if there was a little handle or something on the reel to make it just a easier to rewind.However, it's not that inconvenientconsidering how small and light this is.

3.No instructions.True, it's not that hard to figure out, but an instruction sheet with perhaps a list of accessories need (like the adapters), and sprinkler setting instructions would have been appreciated.

Warnings:
When you connect your hose/hose bib/attachments, make sure the adapters are clicked all the way in.Just like an air hose, if the fittings are not seated properly your connection shoots apart.

I bought this little hose to attach to a hose bib that was closer to my driveway than my very long, very heavy, pain-in-the-neck, hose on a reel.The flat hose is light, easy to carry and works just like it's supposed to.I really love the fact that I no longer need pliers to hook up my pressure washer and other attachments and the fittings don't leak all over the place.Once I'm done winding it up, I click it off the hose bib and throw it in the shed.

Overall, I really like this hose and the attachment system, it works well and seems to be well made. I've not tried the attached sprinkler, so I can't review it.Thiswould have received 5 stars if it had a winder handle, instructions and the adapters were readily available on Amazon.

The orbit hardware has held up well, stayed leak proof, and makes keeping my acre of property well watered much easier.There are cheaper products on the marker, but I've had problems with leaks which makes watering a real nuisance.I'd rather spend a little more, not have to replace the hardware every year, and most importantly - stay dry while watering the yard.

This is a great hose!This hose seems to actually prevent kinking due to it's rigidity, which I like a lot.BEWARE: Many people would claim it's "hard to maneuver", but it's a necessary evil to REALLY prevent kinking.You'll have to deal with it and learn to love it.Other kink-free hoses prevent re-kinking in the same place, but don't actually prevent kinking.This one seems to prevent it totally (in most cases, of course).This hose is excellent for high water flow in any situation.A must have for low pressure situations, rain barrels, or anything else where you want water fast, due to it's large size.3/4" hoses allow much more water flow with a minimum amount of pressure loss due to friction.In my opinion, anything less is inadequate, and a waste of your watering time.The female fittings are really heavy duty brass with a 4" kink guard, and the males look like semi-heavy duty zinc with 4" of padding on the end.Both are a unique, ergonomic design, and they feel and look like they'll last forever.The hose has reinforced striations longways which give it an octagonal shape.It does claim to be lead free and drinking water safe, although water from it tastes like hose.The Amazon report DOES NOT include that there is a lifetime warranty, but there IS.You must keep the receipt and packaging and read the directions.It's also a great value!I highly recommend this hose.

They can sit on top of the box when you reel/unreel the hose. Otherwise, there are anchor points on the housing if you want to secure it to the ground. Like others, the coupling leaked when I connected my 75' garden hose to spindle the first time...On the second attempt,I used teflon tape on the coupling and screwed it very tightly and no leaks! The crank is low to the ground, so you may need to kneel in order to to reel the hose in.I sympathize with all the reviewers here, it may be easier to buy a heavy duty version. However, if you are on a budget (and got kids) you can get this at your local home depot for twenty greenbacks.It is made in the USA.

This is the third one of these I've purchased, and due to one simple change, it's the best of the lot.

Yes, you DO need to dig a hole in the ground and securely set this thing in place -- after all, it's going be holding 20, 30, or 40 pounds or more of hose and you need it to be stable.

Other models I've owned have featured a horizontal input connection, which has put a strain in the supply hose (the one coming from your spigot or other water source. Typically, these hose stands are backed up against a wall, and you end up having to permanently bend your supply hose to accommodate the horizontal input and squeeze it in place. This eventually leads to failure, and puts undue sideways pressure on the input in the back of the stand.

THIS model has a 90-degree input connection, and points DOWNWARD -- utterly brilliant! Your supply hose lays on the ground, and easily and naturally turns upwards to connect to the back of the hose stand. No awkwardly-bent connections, no strain, etc. What a great idea!

This product appears to be all steel and brass, and gives the impression that it'll last a long, long time.

Worth every penny of the asking price, I recommend this stand without reservation!

Well this is an ok device, but the spike isn't long enough to be really useful. It needs to be about 6" or 8" longer to really hold its footing in most applications. I had to go to the hardware store and buy a 24" long snug-fitting piece of pipe that I drove into the ground and then put this inside it to keep it from pulling out of the ground. Once I did that, it worked well, but it would have been great if it were designed better from the beginning.

Melnor 15MQC 4-Piece Garden Hose Quick Connect Kit Review

I have a box in the lawn with a spigot in it.The spigot points down at the bottom of the box, and it's plastic.Two problems with that... one, it's a royal pain to thread the hose on there properly; and two, it's plastic - I was concerned that a single cross-threaded attempt would start to destroy the plastic threads on the spigot.

Then I stumbled upon this in a store while looking for something else - it's great!No more peering down into that dark box trying to see if the threads are going on straight, just click and spray!The spigot is hooked to the irrigation system and doesn't pass through the pressure reducer in the house, so very high pressure - and this thing doesn't leak a bit.Highly recommend it.

We have used soaker hoses for years for a long hedge area. Local suppliers no longer make a 5/8 inch and now only provide 1/2 inch, and either side wear out in a few years. In addition, when new, they spray a little up as well as drip down.

This Dramm Premium hose is about twice the prices - but it has a lifetime guarantee, it is 5/8 inch, it is double walled, it does not spray up, and it waters straight down as soaking. The product is as advertized but the design is cheap... Cheap plastic that twists when you wind, flimsy assembly and fragile. Also the leader hose they give you is of bad quality and it collapses if there is any torque at all on it, which there will be when you move the cart... It also has cheap fittings that can't take the wrench you need to tighten them. I replaced the leader hose with a good quality hose with good fittings, lubricated the O-rings that were barely water tight and for now it works as advertized. Not sure when it will start to leak...

In previous two years we have purchased 4 Reel-Smart hose reel units (dist by mfgr Hydro Industries) and now this No-Crank unit (still mfgd by Hydro, but distributed under the Suncast label). The rewind mechanism is ingenious, with its water-pressure powered 3-piston hydraulic pump. The unit works well, but I underscore these requirements, lest you think the unit is malfunctioning and head back to the store with it. First, READ THE BROCHURE that comes with the unit and strictly comply with Hydro's recommendations: Use not heavier than medium duty, vinyl or plastic (NOT rubber) 5/8" hose; Do NOT exceed hose length or width specified for your unit; Prior to pulling hose out of the No-Crank, make sure rewind control handle is in REST position, and hose is NOT pressurized; Prior to rewinding, turn water supply OFF and open hose nozzle; Straighten out the hose to be rewound, then pick up nozzle end and set it down near the No-Crank to reduce hose drag force; Move the rewind control to REWIND, then turn on water supply to activate rewind mechanism. As the nozzle gets within a couple feet of fully retracted, turn off water supply, and reset rewind control to REST. You'll be impressed with how this little regimen enables your No-Crank to work like a champ for the long haul. NOTE: An annual light spray of silicone over the length of the hose will help help No-Crank's rewind mechanism distribute the hose neatly over the storage reel.
